Catalog Course Description
In this course, students study the principles, methods, and equipment associated with sustainable building systems and design. Topics include ecological design, energy efficiency, passive and renewable energy, water conservation and treatment, sustainable site selection, green building materials, indoor and outdoor environmental quality, and building assessment tools.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Identify and explain green building practices VS traditional nongreen building practices.
2. State environmental and economic benefits of utilizing green building practices.
3. Compare equipment and materials specific to energy efficiency and green building material practices.
4. Explain and highlight the benefit of sustainable site design.
5. Demonstrate how building systems are interrelated and affect each other.
