Catalog Course Description

In this course students learn medical administrative front office skills. This course focuses on communication, medical office management, medical office policies and procedures, using and maintaining office equipment, using computers in the office, managing correspondence, managing office supplies, and managing office medical records.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Identify, define, and maintain office health information management systems.
2. Communicate and correspond professionally and effectively with patients, physicians, staff and other healthcare providers.
3. Manage and organize the medical office, maintain inventories of supplies, and perform routine maintenance of office equipment.
4. Schedule patient/procedure appointments demonstrating effective time management skills.
5. Respond to emergencies in the medical office.
6. Use SIM CHART software to Enter Patient Information, Enter Insurance, Account, and Condition Information, Enter Charge Transactions and Patient Payments, Create Claims\Post Insurance, Payments & Patient Statements, Print Reports, Explain the process of collections in the Medical Office, Schedule patient appointments.
