Catalog Course Description
In this course, students map global cultural identities by examining the elements of culture and how we define it. Areas of exploration include language, geography, migration, politics, urbanization, beliefs, economic development, neocolonialism, food, and agriculture. Students study the evolution of these elements from their historical to contemporary context.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of the basic conceptual framework for comprehending the world and its historical evolution.
2. Analyze the geopolitical framework of today’s world and explain the forces that underlie its continuous evolution.
3. Compare and contrast major cultural, social, political and economic trends in the world’s regions.
