A study of Partial Differential Equations, or Pde’s, and their applications in science and engineering. The basic development of physical models leading to partial differential equations is discussed. Solution methods and basic theory are presented. Topics include: first order Pde’s, method of characteristics, the canonical second order Pde’s, separation of variables, Hilbert space methods, finite difference methods.
