The use of the digital computer appears mundane and quotidian, yet the history of science that gave birth to the computer is the history of relations of power – of class conflict, imperialism, militarization and accumulation. The contemporary expression of imperial and anti-working class politics is presented as the politics of environmental crisis. This course will introduce you to the ways relations of power shape science and technology. The production of knowledge has historically been developed to secure the means of accumulation: labor, access to raw materials, expansion through colonization, and the racialized division of labor.
