This course examines the intricacies of global environmental politics with a focus on how nation states interact with and influence one another to achieve environmental goals. Topics will cover the emergence of environmental politics on the international stage, the political actors involved, the crafting of environmental institutions, sustainable development concerns, and more. Through readings, case studies, and coursework, students will develop a greater understanding of the institutions and instruments that characterize international environmental politics. They will also be exposed to the long-standings patterns of interaction between developed and developing countries that shaped the regime.
