Fueling War or Peace: The Evolution of Energy, Geopolitical Competition, and International Conflict. In our ever-changing global landscape, energy resources play a central role in shaping geopolitical dynamics, from igniting international conflicts to fostering peace. This course offers a comprehensive exploration of how energy resources have transformed the geopolitical arena, often fueling wars and tensions, and subsequently delves into emerging alternative energy resources, such as nuclear and green energy, that have the potential to redefine resource-security relationships. This course will cover a range of topics, including resource scarcity, resource abundance, environmental degradation, the green transition, and energy technology.
