Social Media platforms such as tiktok, facebook, twitter etc. have been widely used by NGOs and other non-state actors as a platform to mobilize civilians and to advocate for their work. This course examines the relationship between social media and political violence. How does social media affect state repression strategies towards non-state actors? How does state repression affect online mobilization efforts? This course aims to expand on these themes and explore the relationship between social media and political violence.
