Take your class online with SUNY
You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students
This course introduces students to stories about women in the Quran. The course will be taught in English. We will discuss the stories and the related Quranic verses, their interpretation, and values and lessons to be learnt from them. We will address religious topics based on a number of readings and audiovisual materials from or about the Quran. While the majority of the readings will be available for free (through the University Library, online, etc.), students will be required to buy others from Amazon and similar providers. The objective of the course is to develop a better understanding of the Quran, Islam, and Muslim societies, and to increase students’ intercultural competence. Additionally, the course will work on deepening the students’ interpretive and critical skills. The course consists of the readings, close study, and discussions.
