Take your class online with SUNY
You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students
This course is designed to introduce students to the art and craft of writing for the screen. Students will develop a firm grasp of the traditional screenwriting form - and the software used to produce it - as well as the myriad ways of using writing as a pre-production tool for filmmaking of all kinds. The course will revolve around three individual writing projects in the realms of narrative, non-fiction, and experimental film. Students will also gain experience reading, analyzing, and providing critique of their peers’ writing. Coursework will consist of lectures, demonstrations, table-reads, critiques, presentations, writing exercises, blog posts, and discussion.
