This course examines ethical issues that arise in the field of medicine and related areas of biomedical research. Several traditional ethical theories are introduced, theories which establish the foundations needed for later thoughtful analysis and evaluation of specific issues. Issues analyzed typically include: truth-telling, informed consent, research on human subjects, euthanasia, disability and healthcare policy.
Prerequisites: Students must have satisfied all ENG and RDG developmental requirements prior to starting the course. Please note that PHI 101 is not a prerequisite.
