Identifies the academic learning, behavioral needs, and cultural linguistic factors of early childhood age children with mild/moderate disabilities; considers the philosophical issues involved in providing services in the least restrictive environment; develops competencies in working with multidisciplinary and inclusive teams, in the home, community, and in schools to develop Individual Family Service Plans and Individualized Education Plans and understandings of the EI to CPSE to IEP transition processes. Discusses the selection, development, and implementation of teaching strategies and lesson planning for use with early childhood children with disabilities; discusses procedures for monitoring student progress and communicating that progress in collaboration with families and teams.
