By taking this class, students will understand societal influences that shape cultural identity and perpetuate the dynamics of power, privilege, oppression, and opportunity, as well as, dimensions of social justice in the cultural experiences of immigrants and refugees in the U.S. Further, students will integrate intercultural communication theory with practice and real-life applications as they create and revise a presentation on the distinctive cultural features of one non-Western civilization.
