This is a course that encourages students to more actively engage in the lifelong endeavor of exploring, analyzing, and evaluating the human and cultural landscapes of this world. There are great changes taking place on the face of the earth as human population expands and as our changing behaviors and technologies revolutionize our relationship with our surroundings. This course focuses on understanding the impact of culture and human societies on the natural world and the creation of human landscapes that reflect our needs, beliefs, and values. Course topics include the spatial dimensions of religion and language, settlement patterns, and changes associated with the agricultural and industrial revolutions.
