This course presents epidemiological principles and methods with emphasis on the health status and health needs of a population, on levels of prevention, on susceptibility, and modes of transmission; and on promotion of health using various strategies. Statistical measures and findings from research are applied to describe the incidence and prevalence of disease; morbidity and mortality rates; health beliefs and behaviors; socioeconomic, ethnic and racial disparities; causality of disease and disability; and risk factors for the purpose of evidence-based decision making in public health. Prerequisites: UNIV 300, ALHT 301, NURS 300, NURS 302, NURS 303, NURS 304, or enrolled in the Health Care Management Program with junior status. Restricted to BSN and Health Care Management programs. (3:3,0) Restricted to students enrolled in the following Major: Nursing
