Ethical Issues in the Criminal Justice System: Professionals in the Criminal Justice system encounter situations that present specific ethical issues and dilemmas that may test their moral strength. The individuals who work in the system are given great power to do their jobs and to ensure that justice is served. Because of the responsibility criminal justice professionals have and the great injustices that occur when they do not perform their duties in an ethical manner, it is imperative that they are prepared to address the ethical issues they may face, they respect the rule of law, and they respond in an ethical and professional manner. In this course, students will address the difficult ethical issues and dilemmas facing individuals who work in law enforcement, prosecution, the court system, and the correctional system, and help prepare students to face these challenges in a lawful and just manner. Prerequisite: CJUS 100. Restriction: Criminal Justice BS majors or students requiring an upper-division Liberal Arts elective in their junior and senior years. (3:3,0) Restricted to students enrolled in the following Major: Criminal Justice
