Catalog Course Description

In this course students gain an overview of Cannabis from its botany and cultivation, to its role in US History, to processing, and to merchandising, including the processes of licensures and compliance in New York State today.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Be able to explain the different varieties of cannabis, their uses, and importance in different periods of American history from the colonial period to the present in the context of global history.
2. Analyze and discuss how and why cannabis has been a controversial and politically charged issue in American life from the 1920’s to the present.
3. Demonstrate an understanding of the processes of licensure and compliance in all aspects of the cannabis industry: growing, processing, and merchandising in New York State.
4. Demonstrate the ability to research a topic by assessing the validity
