This course explores the field of Microbiology with an emphasis on diseases caused by various types of pathogens and discusses latest topics such as antibiotic resistance and vaccination. This three-credit course covers the lecture and not the laboratory component of the sequence, which is offered as a separate course.Topics covered will include: history of microbiology; cellular organization; infection and infectious diseases; microbial growth and metabolism; microbial genetics; and immunity.Notes: This lecture course complements the lab component covered in Microbiology Laboratory, but it is not a co-requisite to the lab.This course contains elements which rely on vision and motor skills to complete.
