This is a course in formal and informal logic. It introduces and employs formal tools, such as argumentative standard form, argument mapping, truth tables, and Venn diagrams, which enable students to represent and evaluate arguments. Additionally, the course provides informal methods for assessing claims, which prepare students to determine whether claims should be accepted or rejected, or whether suspension of judgment is appropriate.
