This course is intended for non-science majors interested in learning about basic genetic principles by studying the astonishing abilities of our favorite fictional superheroes. Students will navigate through the intricate world of DNA and genes, uncovering the fundamental principles governing human heredity, mutations, and genetic inheritance. Drawing parallels between real world genetics and the marvelous powers exhibited by superheroes, students will learn the plausibility of super abilities in shaping the diversity of traits in fictional characters. This course may serve as credit towards the University at Buffalo Scientific Literacy and Inquiry general education requirement when taken together with BIO 130 Lab. Please note that credits for this course do not fulfill requirements toward a Biological Sciences major. Enrollment in this course does not assure enrollment in the laboratory.
