You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students
This course will examine contemporary works of Korean American fiction to address a range of topics such as The Korean War, transnational immigrant experience, family drama, racial (mis)representation, faith and spirituality, trauma and memory, the politics of belonging, etc. The novels and critical readings will aid our consideration of what constitutes Korean American fiction and how specific contexts can shape cultural production. We will focus on the role of fiction, literary styles and strategies authors use, the socio-historical formation of Korean American experiences, and how such formations can inform creative expression.
