You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students
Let’s fall in (the subject of) love! Love, the most personal and universal puzzle that connects the past to the future, exhilarates, stupefies, pains us like no other emotion ever does. From history to present, love letters to dating apps, stories of romantic love may spark discussions on coming of age, gender and sexuality, mental health etc. We will pay specific attention to how women writers approach the theme of love differently than men and how love is tied to identity and self-development. We will also talk about how we can experience personal growth in thinking, reading, writing, and being in love by drawing connections to our own personal romantic aspirations and stories. We may include the writings of Plato, Blake, Mary Shelley, Bronte sisters, Austen, Hurston, Hemingway, and Christina Rossetti. We’ll also consider visual arts, music, and films.
