This course is an introductory undergraduate course that teaches the fundamentals of microeconomics. The course introduces the concepts and related analysis of microeconomics, supply and demand analysis, theories of the firm and individual behavior, competition and monopoly, trade, externalities and public goods, and welfare economics. Students will also be introduced to the use of microeconomic applications to address problems in current economic policy throughout the semester. Students may take ECON 160 and 162 in either order they choose. For majors and non-majors. Appropriate for first-year students. Delivered in distance education format only. Students will be contacted by the instructor via Binghamton e-mail account just prior to the start of the session. A good computer and reliable internet access, as well as a Binghamton e-mail account are required. Course is taught using Mycourse with lecture notes, reading and assignment posted. Periodic homework assignments will be required.
