This course explores the complex intersections of gender, sexuality, and power through both sociological and historical perspectives. Students will critically examine how social structures, cultural norms, and political institutions have shaped and regulated women's lives and sexualities across various periods and locations. Central themes include the social control of women's bodies and sexuality through religions, patriarchy, capitalism, and nation. By analyzing these dynamics, the course provides a deep understanding of the forces that have influenced gender relations and continue to impact the experiences of women today.
