Data visualization is an important skill for students in any discipline in the liberal arts. This course will focus on data visualization from a design perspective. Students will learn not only how to create data visualizations, but also how to prepare and clean data for visualization, how to tell effective stories using their visualizations, and how to incorporate color, text, and other design elements in their work, with an emphasis on inclusive and ethical design. The course will combine lectures about data visualization with hands-on activities designing visuals and interactive dashboards using Tableau software.
