This self-paced online course provides a general introduction to geology: a user's guide to planet Earth. Topics include the origin of planet Earth, geologic time, history of life on Earth, minerals and rocks, natural hazards, natural resources (metals, materials, water), energy, global climate (past, present, future), and the role of geologists in society. For majors and non-majors. Hands-on lab exercises that will require materials, but can be done at your own pace. Successful completion of this course will fulfill the L requirement for Binghamton University students.
