The course will familiarize students to tools for scientific computing and graphics using R. The course will start with a basic introduction to the R language. Students will learn the basics of programming such as writing functions in R, loops, reproducibility, graphics, data management, storage and retrieval. The course will also cover topics such as random number generation, matrix calculations, data simulation and numerical optimizations. The goal is to provide students with background in R so that they can start using R in their research and other advanced courses. No prior programming experience is required. Prerequisites: Grade of C or better in Math 304 and Math 323.
