Investigating A Crime
This seminar will examine the psychological research on best practices that can be employed in the criminal justice system to ensure a fair and just conclusion for all those involved. Topics will include simultaneous vs sequential lineups on decision-making, pre-knowledge effects on investigation, and Reid technique tactics on confession. We will talk about real life cases where some element of investigation may have gone wrong. This means discussing potentially sensitive topics including but not limited to sexual assault and murder.
Students must earn a grade of C- or higher for this course to apply to the major.
Prerequisites: PSYC 111 with a grade of C or higher, PSYC 243 with a grade of C or higher and PSYC 344 with a grade of C- or higher; course restricted to junior/senior psychology or integrative neuroscience majors.

May not be taken concurrently.
This course will NOT fulfill the seminar requirement for Integrative Neuroscience.
