Catalog Course Description

Students gain a foundational understanding of essential information technology (IT) concepts. Students utilize the LabSim PC IT Fundamentals training program, which offers fundamental and up-to-date practical experience in the use of computer hardware, operating systems, software applications, networking basics, internet fundamentals, security principles, troubleshooting, and IT ethics. The course prepares students for the industry-standard CompTIA IT Fundamentals certification exam. Pre-requisite: MAT 1005 Intermediate Algebra or Permission of Instructor.

Course Learning Outcomes

Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:

1. Manage files and folders in the Windows file system. 2. Configure Windows Firewall for different networks. 3. Create volumes and format drives. 4. Configure and manage a VPN connection. 5. Configure and restore data using File History.
