Catalog Course Description
Students are introduced to the Linux operating system. Students utilize the LabSim Linux Pro training program, which focuses on Linux fundamentals, installation, configuration, command line usage, file management, system administration, networking, security, and more. This course prepares students for the industry-standard CompTIA Linux+ certification exam. Pre-requisites CPT 1200 IT Fundamentals or permission of instructor.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Perform basic Unix/Linux file system administration (manage files, view directory listings, mount and unmount drives to and from the Linux directory tree, etc.)
2. Summarize the purpose of an operating system.
3. Summarize the major steps necessary to boot a Linux system.
4. Perform basic process management on a Unix/Linux system (view, start, and kill processes, etc.)
5. Identify acceptable industry standard troubleshooting practices.
