Catalog Course Description
Students learn various topics related to cybersecurity, such as security fundamentals, threat mitigation, network security, operating system security, cryptography, incident response, and ethical hacking. Students use the LabSim Security Pro training program, which provides comprehensive and current practical experience in cybersecurity. The course prepares students for the industry-standard CompTIA Security+ certification exam.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Identify and apply secure communication protocols to protect data in transit. 2. Implement security measures to protect operating systems from unauthorized access and attacks. 3. Secure computer networks, including the use of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and encryption protocols. 4. Identify and classify various security threats and vulnerabilities, including malware, social engineering, and common attack vectors. 5. Demonstrate a strong understanding of the fundamental principles of information security, including the confidentiality, integrity, and availability (CIA) triad.
