This course introduces the fundamentals of American Sign Language (ASL), which is a natural and visual-gestural language used by the deaf community. The course focuses on communicative competence in the following basic areas: finger spelling, signs, grammar, syntax, sentence structure. There will also be emphasis on developing conversational skills including: non-manual behaviors, facial expression, and expressive and interactive communication. The course will foster an understanding and appreciation of Deaf Culture nationally and globally
Prerequisites:
ASL 101, American Sign Language I or permission of instructor.
