The Philosophy curriculum is designed to give students a liberal arts education that includes a broad but rigorous introduction to the discipline of philosophy. By offering a variety of courses by which the degree requirements can be met, this flexible curriculum allows students to complete a course of study that conforms to their individual philosophical interests and educational goals.

While the program provides solid preparation for advanced study of philosophy at transfer institutions, the exploration of profound philosophical questions — What is the nature of reality? What counts as genuine knowledge? What is justice? How should I live? —equips students with critical thinking, critical reading, and critical writing skills that will help them to succeed in a wide range of academic and career paths.

Graduates of the program have gone on to pursue degrees and careers in philosophy, psychology, religious studies, history, and many other fields.

What's an associate degree?
