The Associate in Science (A.S.) in Public and Community Health is designed to prepare students for seamless transfer to four-year colleges and universities, where they can complete a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Public Health or a related field. Students gain essential knowledge and skills related to population health, disease prevention, health education, and health equity. The curriculum introduces students to core topics such as epidemiology, health behavior, public health policy, and health disparities, with a focus on real-world application in diverse communities. Public and community health professionals work in settings such as local and state health departments, hospitals, nonprofit organizations, schools, research institutions, government agencies, and global health initiatives. This degree also provides a strong foundation for careers in health education, healthcare navigation, advocacy, and public service.
