You will earn the same diploma as our on-campus students

SUNY Plattsburgh’s Master of Science in Education in Special Education, Birth–Grade 2, prepares certified educators to support young children with disabilities in early childhood settings. Through advanced coursework and applied field experiences, students develop expertise in assessment, instructional planning, interdisciplinary teaching, family collaboration and the creation of inclusive, responsive learning environments. Designed for individuals who already hold an undergraduate degree and teaching certificate, the program may be completed on a full- or part-time basis and meets New York State Education Department requirements for the master’s degree leading to professional certification in Students with Disabilities, Birth–Grade 2. Graduates are prepared to serve as special educators and providers of academic intervention services in classrooms, inclusive programs, resource rooms and other early childhood settings.
