This program has been ranked #1 nationwide for online bachelor’s programs by U.S. News.

The RN-BS (Registered Nurse Bachelor of Science) program, offered in a 1-year or 2-year sequence, is designed for nurses who have already successfully completed a community college (associate degree) nursing program and passed the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX-RN) for registered nurses (RN).

The program is a student-centered and user-friendly distance learning/asynchronous format that allows practicing nurses to attend school while maintaining employment. The program builds upon knowledge and experience of registered nurses, preparing them to provide the necessary leadership to advance quality of care, patient safety, and health services in an evolving health care system.

In an increasingly complex and evolving health care environment, nurses must be prepared with critical thinking, case management, leadership, and health promotion skills. UB baccalaureate-educated nurses are prepared to meet these demands, playing a critical role in the delivery of safe care.

US News and World Report ranks University at Buffalo online bachelor's programs among the best in the nation.
