This course uses the theory and elements of effective collaboration to develop capacities needed to work for continuous academic, behavioral and or social emotional improvement for diverse student populations with all required stakeholders within the school system, community at large, and compliance with state and federal laws, policies and regulations. Specific focus will be upon increasing understanding as to how to raise family and student engagement through cultural proficiencies and inclusive practices and interventions. Additional course focus will be upon fostering professional learning communities to address how to use collaboration and problem-solving models, in concert with multiple measures of data and assessment, for ethical decisions for student progress. Emphasis will be placed upon universal design on learning to meet long term planning needs for students and staff in curriculum and instruction development and delivery, continuous assessment models, use of technology in learning and interventions, and promoting family participation in student plan processes.
