An examination of developmentally appropriate practice in the assessment and evaluation of young children, following the guidelines set by the National Association for the Education of Young Children for authentic assessment and evaluation. Includes practice and using a variety of observation-based data gathering instruments, play-based assessments, transdisciplinary assessments and portfolios. Also includes discussion of the use and misuse of standardized tests in the assessment and evaluation of young children. Prerequisite: ECHD 230 or ECHD 234, or permission of the instructor. This course is for B.S. EC Studies: Birth - Age 5 majors only.
