(Dual listed with AFR 200) An historical examination of the image, role and treatment of the Black Woman in America from the Age of Slavery to the advent of the feminist movement and the contemporary scene. Emphasis centers on the burdens of racism, sexism, single-parent motherhood, welfare, Black female and male relationships, sterilization, the Black family and the issues of Black Women's liberation, women's lib and the ERA amendment.
