This course is designed to investigate the major chemical industries of pharmaceuticals, petroleum and polymers. The course will review the techniques and processes critical to these industries, the production of important organic and inorganic chemicals and major safety and environmental practices. A survey of applicable chemical literature will connect concepts to the real world. Student interest level in the various topics presented will determine greater depth of coverage in that special topic.
