In ELP 606: Changing Social Contexts of Schooling for Educational Leaders, we will explore such questions as: What are schools for? How has schooling changed (or not changed) over time? How have social contexts changed (or not changed) over time? How can we create learning environments that promote educational equity for diverse learners and their families? How do our diverse histories, experiences, and understandings contribute to and challenge our leadership? This course is designed to provide a critical overview of the purposes of education and the changing historical, social, and cultural contexts of schooling in the United States, with emphasis on how school leaders can address diversity issues in their school and district.
