The purpose of this course is for advanced undergraduate students to learn the fundamentals of how the human nervous system is constructed (ie: neuroanatomy) and how it works (ie: neurophysiology). The course is structured to help students gain a basic understanding of neuroscience and its relationship to clinical rehabilitation. Clinical examples will be utilized throughout the course to illustrate the relationship between "basic neuroscience" and rehabilitation. This course introduces the major functions of the nervous system, perception and motor control at molecular, cellular and system levels. In addition, it considers the neural basis of behavior and the cellular and molecular basis of neural diseases.
