This course is designed for students seeking a Liberal Arts and Sciences: Humanities and Social Sciences AA degree with a History Concentration. Students must complete two of the required three history courses in the concentration before enrolling in History 293. In this course, students will learn the foundations of academic historical research and writing through a semester-long project. Lecture and discussion sessions include instruction on formulating topic questions, beginning initial research, topic revision, and evidence presentation. The course provides an introduction to and practical experience in the types of historical work in academic, museum, and public history settings, while preparing students for upper division history courses in degree programs.
