Study of techniques to change challenging classroom behaviors both in the academic and social areas. Assessment and analysis of a Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and the development of a Behavior Improvement Plan (BIP) which includes the identification of antecedent and consequent events. Understand why challenging behavior may occur and long-term strategies to reduce and teach positive alternatives. Provide contextual supports necessary for successful outcomes. Proactive and reactive strategies appropriate for Birth-12. Strengthening the foundation of Developmentally Appropriate Practice (DAP), behavior in school and other settings will be developed. This course fulfills state-mandated requirements for the Dignity for All Students Act (DASA). Fall, Spring.
