This course will provide participants with an understanding of the overlap between psychiatric and substance use disorders. Students will acquire an understanding of the differential diagnosis of co-occurring disorders, the interaction between the exposure to trauma and co-occurring disorders, and the assessment strategies and intervention approaches for working with those clients, integrating a trauma-informed and human rights perspective.
Prerequisites:
SW 500, 503, 505, 506, 510, 514, 520, 521, 550, 551 or SW 540 and 541
