You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students
In this course, we will examine the most profound questions concerning the meaning and the purpose of life. Some of the philosophical questions that we will engage with are: What is the nature of reality? How do I know this reality? What is the self/soul? What constitutes a good life? How do we decide what is right and wrong? What does it mean to be morally responsible? We hope to survey these questions by navigating the sub-fields of philosophy such as metaphysics, epistemology and ethics; engaging with both Asian and Western traditions; and reading key figures such as Plato, Aristotle, Descartes, Hume, Kant, Mill, Nietzsche, Vasubandhu and others. In addition to familiarizing the students with the subject matter of philosophy, the course will also help develop critical thinking skills and enhance reading and writing skills.
