The objective of this course is to provide an overview of macroeconomic issues. We will cover topics including but not limited to: basics of economics (the market forces of demand and supply, production possibility frontier, elasticity and etc.), essence of Macroeconomics (Gross Domestic Product, growth, unemployment and etc ), Classical Macroeconomic model (Keysian model, Neoclassical model), fiscal & monetary policy (inflation, money supply, interest rates etc) and theory of open economy. We will study the impact of fiscal and monetary policy on economic stabilization, aggregate demand and distribution of income. To encourage analytical and critical thinking, important policy debates will be discussed. Grading will be based on homework assignments, a case study, class participation in discussions, and one final exam. For majors and non-majors. Appropriate for first-year students. Format: Delivered in distance education format only. Students will be contacted by the instructor via Binghamton e-mail account just prior to the start of the session. A good computer and reliable internet access, as well as a Binghamton e-mail account are required. Course is taught using MyCourses with each day's reading and lecture assignment posted daily. Unless otherwise instructed at the beginning of the term, students must take the exam through an online service called ProctorU, which requires a webcam and microphone. Students will be responsible for arranging and paying for ProctorU service, which will be about $22.50. Instructions for arranging this service will be available on myCourses
