Take your class online with SUNY
You will learn the same curriculum as our on-campus students
Students will be introduced to the field of archaeology and the importance of learning about the human past through its material remains. Using the methods and theories of archaeology, this course will explore the cultural evolution of our human lineage. We will look at several of the remarkable migrations that resulted in the peopling of the earth, explore changes in artistic expression and technology, and talk about the transitions from hunter-gatherer societies to complex agricultural states. In examining the broad patterns of the human past, we will explore how archaeology can be used to address current and emerging social issues.
