Catalog Course Description
This course covers the mathematics used in everyday business and accounting. Among the topics included are: fractions and decimals, the use of algebraic equations, percents and their applications, sales and trade discounts, markup, payroll, checking accounts, simple and compound interest, discounting of notes, present value, taxes, and business statistics. A passing grade in BUS 1101 will meet Math Competency.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Perform basic computation skills with a focus on speed and accuracy.
2. Utilize numbers to make personal and business decisions.
3. Develop mathematical skills that can be used in other courses in thebusiness program.
4. Perform mathematical concepts pertaining to business activities andincreased competency in the fundamental mathematical skills.
5. Develop useful methods, which are applicable to both mental and written calculations.
6. Develop mathematical skills that can be used in banking transactions including bank statements and loans.
7. Participate in 135 hours of coursework which will be completed by the last class session.
