Catalog Course Description
This course provides an overview of the basics of advertising and its relationship to the field of marketing. Students explore advertising history, the various media, government control, research and trademarks.
Course Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, students will be able to:
1. Analyze and examine advertising as an economic and social force in business and society.
2. Comprehend the field of advertising and identify its role and importance as an element of the marketing mix.
3. Discuss and explain the role and importance of research in advertising and in an organization’s overall marketing strategy and plan.
4. Demonstrate how an advertising campaign is put together.
5. Identify various media and their advantages for advertising.
6. Foster informational literacy through library assignments including journal summations and research writing.
